Announcing All Saints’ Summer Lunch Program

This summer, All Saints is committed to making and providing sack lunches to 100 kids in the area each weekday. Thanks to funding from people during OmahaGives! and the Rauscher Fund through the diocese, we plan to offer lunches June 8 through August 17 (the day before school starts). With the closure of the community centers due to the pandemic, this is anticipated to be a significant service to the community. Right now, there are some specific places where we need help. If any of these work for you, please be in touch ASAP.

Let’s Do Some Baking!
Tracy Peterson is organizing a group to bake or buy cookies, brownies, and other treats to be included with the meals. We will be providing 100 baked goodies, five days a week for about 10 weeks and would love your help! Call the church office if you would like to participate.

Bread Runs!
Rotellas will be providing the sandwich bread at cost (50 cents/loaf), which is a huge help. All we need to do is go pick it up from the store each week. Located across from the QuikMart at 108th and Harrison, this volunteer would go over when the store opens at 9 on Monday morning to pay for (we will provide the payment) and pick up the bread for the week, and then bring the bread to the kitchen at All Saints. Thanks to those who have volunteered–we have a full team for this!

Meal Creation and Serving!
Each day, we need a team of people to come in to prepare the lunches and distribute them. Lunches will include sandwiches, fruit, something salty, something sweet, and an extra item or two (granola bar, applesauce, etc). The daily team for this job would plan to be at the church around 9:30a-12:30p (current estimate. Could change after we have a sense of the rhythm.) These teams will be expected to follow safety guidelines, including wearing masks and frequent washing up. They will clean the surfaces upon arrival, make sandwiches and bag lunches, and then 2 people would give out the lunches while the others do a thorough cleaning of the spaces used for food prep. We anticipate that a team of about 4-5 people would be ideal and envision that a team would sign up to work together for a specific day each week, thus minimizing contact with people outside of their “circle.” We still need teams for Mondays and Fridays–Please contact the church office to sign up.
