Upcoming projects supporting the South Sudanese community in Omaha and Nebraska will focus on education. During the summer of 2014 twelve Sudanese children from the community attended Vacation Bible School at All Saints. Sudan Ministry Team members provided transportation, babysitting, and tuition. In October of 2014 the team responded to an interest in sewing by providing instruction, sewing machines, fabric and notions were provided for the eight women and girls who attended the classes. Classes were held twice monthly on Saturday mornings and led by team members and skilled sewers recruited from the community. A second series began in January, 2015, and an additional four women joined the class which continued until May. Items from the classes are adding to the wardrobes of the families. In addition to sewing skills, vocabularies are expanded and communication is strengthened. The greatest benefit: expanded friendships.
